Completed.
The last of the kitchen accessories requested by my daughter.
I told her I would make these quilted place mats
but would need to machine quilt them
with straight lines.
No fancy machine quilting here.
But when it came down to it
I could not put straight lines on these lovely swirls!
So I designed a quilting pattern
and made a template
And this is how it came out...
This backing is actually black but the flash washed it out.
And this is a close-up so only a corner.
I much prefer doing hand quilting on a hoop/frame
but did not have anything to accommodate this size
and had put enough time into this project.
Not to mention it is not easy with Carpal Tunnel.
Besides as you can see
the quilting really doesn't show on the front.
But she will be happy.
And that is what a mother wants most.

Wow, they came out awesome, Carol. I love the material, borders on them and color combination. You do amazing work and so creative. Your daughter is so lucky to have you to do amazing things like this for her. I also love the blue and white in the background that you have things sitting on. Pretty!
She has good taste. And keeps me busy. LOL The blue/white mats are loom woven and I have posted showing some like that if not those. I was just thinking maybe I should make some for Halloween but waiting till I get out that decor to see what I have/need. And if I have time for that this year.
She has really good taste and wonderful you to make what she likes for her. If I remember right, you probably have all you need for Halloween. I do love this time of the year, the change of season and the holiday colors and decorations.
