Growth

OK I was warned and didn't listen. Darlene said that the watermellon plant would really spread out. But I never dreamed it would grow along the top of the fence! This could get interesting if fruit starts setting up there.

In the left corner is crook neck squash which is starting to produce while in between is garlic chives that really needs to be thinned out. The grape vine on the fence is doing well this year.

I need to get busy with my jewelry and use some of these interesting leaves. The pure silver grape leaves are especially stunning and I did some sketches last week of new ideas.

The only watermelon plant that we had, we planted on the ground and it took up 1/4 of our yard. Watermelons are big and heavy, so I wait to see what you do when they start growing on the fence? Also need to thin them so a few grow large and sweet. I have never heard of garlic shives. Will have to try these. They sound really good. I look forward to seeing grapes. Your yard looks great.

Garlic Chives are just a variety of chives with a slightly different taste and flat leaves. I think it takes a few years before you start getting grapes. I should check that out.
