Happy Hunting

The other night on the way home from the store we startled a large bird in the street I live on. It looked like one of the herons that we frequently see in the ditches feeding on frogs and crawdads. Having never seen one out at night much less in the middle of the street I had to wonder if the lack of rain is drawing them out after other food sources. There were certainly a large number cicadas out as one was extremely shrill with us when we disturbed him by the front gate. Personally I like frogs more than cicadas so I see this as a good thing and wish that lovely bird happy hunting!
