Stream of Birds

On the way down to the college today I spotted a huge flock of birds spread out over miles. Being the passenger today I was able to really check it out and it went back to the south as far as I could see. They were headed north and seemed to be settling in an area not far from the college that looked wooded. Could the migration north have begun already? Seems so early and we are supposed to get down in the teens in the next day or two. Colder even than Antarctica! But maybe this is a sign that this will be our last cold spell for the winter.

Where's an old timer when you need one? They often know more than the weatherman since they looked outside instead of at a computer screen. Makes sense to me. Or maybe just ask the birds.

What you saw is very interesting. Birds are very smart and it may be due to the unusually cold temperatures that you will have in the next few days, that they seem to be migrating. Seems that not only the birds where you live, but a much larger number than normal of Sea Lions in SF have left their usual Pier location for food.
So true abut the old timers. If we could talk to the animals we would learn a lot, but just observing them teaches those that are in tune with them.
